The fruits of the spirit

Recently, a friend told me that I wasn't nice and I replied "niceness is not a fruit of the spirit"
Now people usually try to argue that statement with me and I don't blame them. I, personally didn't agree with the preacher that said it. Well, the examples she gave didn't cut it for me. So I will try to break it down so hopefully it cuts it for you.

What are the fruits of the spirit?
1. Love
2. Joy
3. Peace
4. Patience
5. Kindness
6. Goodness
7. Faithfulness
8. Gentleness
9. Self-control

Nice: pleasing, agreeable, delightful.
So I guess it's safe to say being nice is a good thing.
But agreeable isn't always a good thing if you think about it. You agree to stop talking to someone so you can save your friendship. Yea, you're nice to your friend at that point but keeping malice is wrong.

Someone's spouse is spoiling you everyday and you decide to be nice enough to return the favor and sleep with him/her. Yea, he/she is glad for the reward you just gave them but hey, adultery is still wrong.

Or you were so nice, you got fired at work.

Or you were so nice, you got expelled from school.

I guess the moral of this message isn't don't be nice. But don't let being nice be an excuse to do stupid things.

Everyone is smart enough to know good from bad. But don't let the fact that being nice backfired stop you from being nice when it's right.

Be nice in love. Love knoweth no wrong, it's kind, it's gentle, it's patient (pretty much wraps up everything).
God bless you 😘

#BringBackHumanity

Over 200 girls are missing, another bomb attack in the same area as the previous one. We won't stop praying, we won't stop tweeting and changing dps about the issues. We can't help but let anger in, and anyone who happens to smile has no feelings and is heartless.

Someone is gisting with you and you go, "you know they still haven't found those girls". It would be nice if what came to mind is hope that they would be found and a little prayer would do. Some would say, "hope ko, who would bring them back with this lazy government we have, our president can't set things straight" or "prayer without works". Newsflash: B*tching (pardon my french) about it is not doing anything either... When your emotions are filled with anger towards the nation, you're not helping, you're making matters worse, you're losing.

Let's picture this, your sister is missing, what's your first reaction?

Well, let's talk about my reaction, I look for her personally, even if I have no volunteers, even if I won't be sure I can overcome obstacles, I would give my best cause it's my sister and that's where we're wrong, we only go out of our way for loved ones, for fame, for power, for wealth not for humanity.

Most things are never going to make sense in this life, like why there are bad rich people amongst good rich ones. Like why the good girl has no kids in her husband's house along side the ones with terrible pasts or why the promiscuous has kids after several abortions. Like why "e ni to mo way, lo mo we". Like why people that date for long have bad marriages and ones who barely knew each other can make it work. Or why 234 girls would go missing in a school in the North. North, same north that has female children unwilling to study, now it makes sense to the "lazy girls" that just want to stay home and wait for bride price why education is bad.

On my updates, I saw in my updates, I saw "ile aye, ile asan". Vanity, all is vanity. The essence of living is lost, humanity is lost. We live for selfish desires, fame, power, wealth. Which are all good things but what's the point, we all die anyway.

When Jonathan sees the girls as his daughters, when the armed forces, police force see the girls has their children, when the people see them has sisters, then we would join hands to find these gals. So the CNN lady comes to Nigeria for this issue and we haven't left our smartphones. I understand she's getting paid but I'm sure there's a part of her that has found her humanity.

We've lost hope, we've lost joy, we've lost confidence, we've let fear in, we’re selfish, we’re greedy and we only do things for ourselves and we blame Jonathan. No doubt he’s a bad president but the people are dark too. Kill for a position you aren’t good at, bribe for grades you don’t deserve, marry someone for their money. Every little thing counts.

Love is what we need, love is what we should fight for, and unspeakable joy is what we should yearn for. Not the white men enslaving us in the name of helping us.
So we won’t stop praying, and we won’t stop hoping,we would search for the Chibok girls, we would pray for the families of the Nyanya victims but we would do our part, helping the least people we know, loving our neighbours and teaching them to pay it forward. It just might bring the girls back home. Let’s find our humanity, let’s make the world a better place while we’re still in it. I pray God gives us the heart to love. #BringBackLove #Bringbackourgirls #BringBackHumanity

The refresh button

My love for starting over!
It's easy when you're stuck, just hit the refresh button. Sometimes I head in a direction knowing fully well that I would get stuck and then I hit refresh again. I mean that's why the button is there innit? This is a new me, not doing that again and when I do, well there's the button. For every program that has frozen, that I realize is done the wrong way I refresh. The ever loving refresh helps me start all over.

But then, "What happens when the refresh button gets stuck?". When you cant even begin to fill a new form because refresh is permanently on. You don't even get to have a chance to start something new, cause every second a refresh is made.
Well, the key has to be disabled and the new form/program/whatever has to work fine. One has to live like the key doesn't exist. It's hard to not use the button but its better to live like you don't know it exists. Cause you might think the key would always work for you, it's going to get broken at some point. Don't abuse the key!

The F5 button inspired this post, it made me realize I try starting a "new life" over and over.

The bible says:
Shall we continue in sin and grace abound? God forbid! (Rom 6:1-2).
His grace is sufficient, yea but now, sinning and asking for forgiveness over and over isn't an option anymore, because we're dead to sin. That's what being born-again is all about, that's what being is disciple is all about. Trying to live a blameless life is the solution. Looking up to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

This doesn't mean that God gets tired of us and repentance isn't going to happen after series of sins. Jesus' died for our sins (no matter how big/small) so salvation is free. So I'm not saying you can get stuck and repentance would not be granted to you, I'm saying, don't sin because you know you can ask for forgiveness after. Thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God (Luke 4:12). At the end of the day, God is God and you lose if you try to outsmart him

How you gonna bind the devil?

Tablet vs hard copy
Technology vs (opposite of technology) ..lol.
I'm a lover of technology, heck my being born in the 90's was no mistake (oh, you trying to guess my age now ba). Technology keeps evolving and it's awesome. Technology for one helps in making one realize there's a God. Right? I mean if I can communicate with Peju in Australia from Nigeria, should it be hard to believe that I can communicate with a God who is in my heart but I can't see?. Or if an application can tell when you change location, how much more a God?. He created us in His image, so he is the ultimate Creator and we're the mini creators. Explains why we have this things in place, he has giving us the ability to do wonderful things. So where am I going with this? Should we stop carrying our hard copy bibles? This post is inspired my Ola and his crew (the ANT podcast).
So my opinion:
Yea, drop your bible at home and use your tablet. One thing I have learnt from being an IT person is that you never rely on one copy. Have a back up. So my hard copy is my back up for when all soft copies go bad (which would have to be an extreme case). You have your bible on your tablet, phone and lappy. If you lose them all on the same day, then (lol) dunno what could cause that. Maybe you got robbed or an earthquake. But you have to have your hard copy for the most extreme cases. So I for one think taking your tab to church is cool.
"What if a message comes in while you're reading your bible, wont you get distracted?"
Hmmm.
When you are with your hard copy, and your phone rings, you get distracted too. If you don't want to get distracted, you put the phone on mute. Same applies to tablet, or you didn't know you could turn off your network?. Your bible does work offline, innit? Thank me later :D.
Every good thing can be abused. The sweeter it is, the worse the abuse but that shouldn't stop us from looking at the advantages of good things. Married people still have sex even though it's been abused. So why shouldn't I use my phone cause others abuse it.
How you gonna bind the devil?
I really didn't know one needed to stone the devil with the bible. I believe all Jesus said was "Get thee behind me", he wasn't busy stoning him. That was a joke someone tried to crack  anyway so I shouldn't elaborate. (I have said "so" so many times. *sigh*).
If you prefer holding your hard copy bible, it's cool, at the end of the day, it's what's in our hearts that count. And if you know you like navigating through your phone in church, don't deceive yourself, carry your hard copy.
So what would you do if technology disappears one day?
It has to be the end of the world and I should be in heaven chilling ..lol. Actually, my first 4 months of nysc was without technology and it wasn't bad at all. We're built to adapt to changes in the long run.
"Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away." -1 cor 7:31

MY SUICIDE NOTE

I know every youth goes through problems but mine is worse, it has to be the worst. This is my suicide note:

I am still living with my parents. Why am I still living with my parents in my 20's, why won’t I get money every time I need it? When would I make enough to move out of this house. The economy is so bad, no improvement. It’s just so hard to sleep knowing I should be doing way better.

My mates are getting married, am I not good looking enough, and am I not praying enough? So called "Friends" keep praying for me while they fall in love, and keep joking that I'm next when it's obvious no one wants me. They wont even hook me up with their single friends. So selfish, no love for me.

I don’t have a (good) job. One shouldn't live this way, I barely have enough money to buy new clothes to wear to gatherings or eat out on weekends. I can't even give, I have so little, its hard to give

I think I can kill myself now, nobody would miss me, my family would understand, it's hard for them too and I won't draw them back anymore. It's not like I have friends, just 1, 2, ok maybe I can't count but they aren't worth living for.

Note: This is a satire and in nowhere real. You see how ridiculous it sounds? That’s how ridiculous we sound when we have a complaint. Reasons for committing suicide are always as short and selfish; “I was insulted on twitter”, “A lover jilted me”, "my best friend died". I know and hope no one has attempted suicide but we all go through phases that dampen us and think it’s the worst. Whenever in a situation that dampens the spirit, I tell myself three things (1 cor 10:13) and a fourth one when my spirit is ‘violent’ (Mark 11:23):
  1. God won’t put me through what I can’t bear
  2. There is always a way out
  3. It could have been worse and I should be thankful not complaining
  4. If I tell the ‘mountain’(problem) to move and I believe it, it would move

Challenges make you realize how strong you are. Like it could have been a ‘dog’ I had to face but I conquered a ‘Lion’. That’s reassuring and puts a great smile on one’s face.
All we need to do is believe (without faith it’s impossible to please God) it’s for a good cause and be thankful to God every day. Be still and know that he is GOD.

P.S: Have you prayed about it a quarter as much as you've grumbled about it?

Inter religious marriage

"Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?"

I know I am not married but this is when I should start thinking about it, talking about and looking forward to it. Inter religious marriages is something a lot of young people run away from. Someone actually told me it's stupid for a Christian to marry a Muslim. I think I was angry at that statement. Now the bible says we shouldn't be yoked together with unbelievers and I am not disputing that. But it goes on to say 'what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?'. Did it say Christians are righteous and other religions are wicked?

Now let's look at what righteousness means:
In Gen 6:9 we learn that Noah was a righteous man, blameless among people.
In Pro 10:21 we learn that a righteous man is one whose lips nourish many.
In Ezekiel 18:9 we learn that the righteous follow God's decrees and keep the laws (which in luke 10:27 is "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul with all your strength and with all your mind and love your neighbor as yourself").

In Luke 10: 25-37, a certain person asked what it would take to inherit the kingdom of God and he answers himself with luke 10:27 above and Jesus goes on to explain that the Samaritan was more righteous than the preacher.

I think claiming a religion and despising others without getting to know their reasoning is just wearing a fake look. Should I have to tell you I'm a Christian before you know? It should be in my attitude. It's sad when people think you aren't a righteous person cause you haven't attended their church or hash tagged 'I'm a Christian on your tweets' or cause you don't put up a deep pm on Sunday or cause you don't believe in shouting when praying to God. I would think just being righteous is enough to show people what you really stand for.

So what's my opinion on inter religious marriage. We have just two kinds of religions, good and bad.
I wouldn't marry a Muslim that doesn't love God and humanity but doesn't mean I would marry a Christian with such traits too. It could be a Buddhist that I see as a believer. So yes I kick against inter religious marriages but I define inter religious as good and bad getting unequally yoked. What do good and bad have in common?

Ant podcast!!!

So my friend Ola started a podcast.  Ant podcast. Basically young people like myself (yes I'm young) talking about life from their beautiful perspective. I like the first podcast cause it goes in line with what my love series was about. Love makes the world go round and I think that's all we need to improve. Once love is in our hearts, everything else would fall into place.
Anyway,
The first ant show was centered on the theme “how youths spend time.”
This episode’s Antish stars:
Ade: The Wild one
Ud: The Humorous one
Ib: The Reserved one
Ola: The Talk-a-thief
Drizzle: the producer
